This is about more than food, by providing essential food support to over 235 charitable organisations every week, we enable them to dedicate their efforts to the life-changing work they perform daily, helping people transform their lives.

These organisations provide vital services to the community, including women’s refuges, mental health and addiction support, social housing, education programs, churches and maraes, employment assistance and youth support.

Our MAKE IT MATTER initiative is harnessing the power of 1,000s of SMEs around NZ who want to support their communities but can’t afford expensive annual sponsorship.

Your support helps rescue good food and get it to over 235 charity organisation’s supporting local families nationwide.

Over a year each member will enable KiwiHarvest to rescue and distribute food with a retail value of over $10,300 all going to families in need in our community.

We take care of food so that they can focus their energies and funding on other important support services.

The Ministry for the Environment completed a major research project at the end of 2025 to establish the amount of food lost or wasted in Aotearoa. There is enough good food going to waste in New Zealand to feed Wellington and Lower Hutt for a year.

Over the last 3 years we have doubled the volume we rescue and distribute, for FY26 we have rescued over 4 million kgs.

At the same time our costs to rescue and deliver each kg has decreased by 29%.

We are now rescuing and distributing 54% more for each $ invested, vs 3 years ago.
