Help us feed southland

Demand for food support continues to grow across Southland. With your help, we can rescue more food, reach more communities, and make an even greater impact.

You can help by:

  • Donating

  • Partnering as a food donor or sponsor

  • Advocating for food rescue in your community

Together, we can keep good food in the community and out of landfill.

KiwiHarvest Invercargill collects quality surplus food across Murihiku and redistributes it to local charities, ensuring it reaches whānau in need, not landfill. By linking food businesses with community organisations, from marae to youth and family services, we strengthen the local food system while upholding a “hand up, not a handout” approach that builds resilience and supports people with dignity.

Partnerships & Community Initiatives

KiwiHarvest Invercargill is a proud member of the Murihiku Kai Collective, a collaborative network working toward a more resilient, connected, and equitable food system. Through this partnership, we contribute to regional food security initiatives, including distributing vegetable seedlings via community garden networks, supporting long-term access to fresh, locally grown food.

The true value of food rescue is seen in times of need. During the Southland storm in October 2025, KiwiHarvest Invercargill played a critical role in the emergency response. Working alongside the Dunedin branch, the team mobilised quickly to distribute approximately 2,000 kg of water to affected communities. Despite operating with just one full-time driver, the branch continues to deliver significant impact, proving the strength of collaboration and community connection.
