Together, we can keep good food in the community and out of landfill.

Supporting communities across Ōtepoti, where food rescue began, KiwiHarvest Dunedin rescues quality surplus food from local donors and redistributes it to around 24 organisations, including Northeast Valley Trust, St Vincent de Paul, Ōtepoti Dunedin Whānau Refuge, and Pact, ensuring it reaches families who need it most. As the original branch, it strengthens food security while reducing waste, with each delivery fostering trust and supporting vital services from housing and budgeting to wellbeing and crisis care, creating lasting impact across the region.

The strength of KiwiHarvest lies in collaboration. During the Southland storm in October 2025, the Dunedin branch worked alongside KiwiHarvest Invercargill to supply essential water to affected communities. This rapid, coordinated response highlights the power of teamwork and compassion in times of need.

what our community says

  • “The regular delivery of food pallets has become a cornerstone of our operations, directly fueling our vision of eliminating hunger and supporting those most in need within our community”

    Good Care Community Trust

  • “Your continued partnership strengthens our ability to respond to whānau with compassion and consistency. We value the relationship we have with KiwiHarvest and the shared commitment to ensuring our communities are nourished in more ways than one.”

    Hapori Tautua Collective

  • “KiwiHarvest’ s support is making a direct and meaningful difference in the lives of the families we serve. Their generosity helps us provide more food through our social supermarket, including many 0-point items that allow families to stretch their groceries further, in some cases for up to two weeks. For parents already under stress, that support can mean the relief of knowing there will be food on the table and something for their children to eat after school.”
