Help us feed Auckland

Demand continues to grow across Auckland, and community support is essential.

Together, we can keep good food in the community and out of landfill.

Our Auckland branch rescues quality surplus food from Warkworth to Pōkeno, redistributing it to a wide network of organisations so it reaches people and whānau who need it most. As one of our largest regions, Auckland plays a critical role in reducing waste while supporting communities at scale, where every delivery is more than a meal, enabling connection, dignity, and better outcomes through essential services spanning food support, housing, and wellbeing.

Why KiwiHarvest Auckland Matters

Partnerships & Community Initiatives

We work closely with food donors, community groups, and frontline organisations across Auckland, extending our reach and strengthening local support. Through initiatives such as Cooking for a Cause, we partner with businesses and chefs to turn rescued surplus food into nourishing, family-sized meals. This hands-on programme diverts quality food from landfill while giving teams a meaningful way to engage in food rescue. Meals are distributed to Women’s Refuge, supporting whānau facing hardship. By connecting people with purpose, Cooking for a Cause helps reduce food waste while putting good food to use where it’s needed most.

In December 2023, following the sudden collapse of the ELE Group just days before Christmas, hundreds of workers, many from the Filipino community, were left without income and facing immediate hardship. Within 48hours, KiwiHarvest mobilised its Auckland operations, transforming its East Tāmaki site into a hub for coordinated support. Working alongside industry partners, unions, and community groups, KiwiHarvest helped deliver urgent food relief and hosted a large-scale community foodbank, providing food assistance to those affected. This rapid response demonstrated the strength of collaboration in action, highlighting KiwiHarvest’s ability to step in during times of crisis to ensure good food reaches those who need it most.

what our community says

  • “The regular delivery of food pallets has become a cornerstone of our operations, directly fueling our vision of eliminating hunger and supporting those most in need within our community”

    Good Care Community Trust

  • “Your continued partnership strengthens our ability to respond to whānau with compassion and consistency. We value the relationship we have with KiwiHarvest and the shared commitment to ensuring our communities are nourished in more ways than one.”

    Hapori Tautua Collective

  • “KiwiHarvest’ s support is making a direct and meaningful difference in the lives of the families we serve. Their generosity helps us provide more food through our social supermarket, including many 0-point items that allow families to stretch their groceries further, in some cases for up to two weeks. For parents already under stress, that support can mean the relief of knowing there will be food on the table and something for their children to eat after school.”
