SUPERMARKETS – Keep Good Food Moving, Not Wasted
Every day in supermarkets across Aotearoa, good food becomes surplus. Whether it's due to damaged packaging, short-dated stock, or overordering, much of this food is still perfectly safe to eat, but often ends up as waste.
At KiwiHarvest, we work with supermarkets to rescue unsaleable but edible food and redistribute it to local foodbanks and community groups supporting families in need. Your surplus can become someone’s next meal.
What Can You Donate?
We accept a wide range of items that are no longer suitable for sale but still safe for consumption, including:
Damaged but sealed packaging (e.g. dented cans, torn outer cartons)
Short-dated, close-to-expiry, or just-passed best before products
Surplus or deleted lines
Fresh produce that’s cosmetically imperfect or overstocked
Chilled, frozen, ambient, and dry goods
Unopened bakery and deli items (if prepared under safe conditions)
Please note: We cannot accept any opened, previously served, or spoiled items.
